Instructions:
To make, first cream fat. Then add sugar gradually and cream well. Add eggs, beating well after each. Add sweet potatoes. Mix well. Sift together rest of the dry ingredients, and add alternatively with milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Add nuts. Mix. bake in a greased 9x9x2 inch loaf pan in a moderate oven (350 f) for 45 to 50 minutes. Top with caramel icing if desired.
